The Team

Kate Kincaid, CMHC (she/her)

Kate Kincaid, CMHC (she/her)

I studied at the Kinsey Institute- a renowned school for the study of sexuality and gender. This and my personal experiences as a queer person lead me to specializing in counseling LGBTQIA2S+ people, as well as people exploring ethical non-monogamy/polyamory. As a new(er) mother, I’m also passionate about working with people experiencing perinatal and postpartum issues.

My therapeutic style is informed by intersectional feminism and social justice, seeking to collectively dismantle systems of violence and oppression. I believe many of the dis-ease in our lives is rooted in a normal response to a broken system that is then pathologized and stigmatized. I believe any problematic behavior is a symptom of a deeper-rooted problem that needs to be addressed rather than the cause of the concern. I have an eclectic and intuitive approach that invites collaboration with the inner healing intelligence of everyone I work with.

My approach is to address the core negative self-beliefs (often established in early childhood) that adversely impact one’s relationship with self and others. I believe that given an accepting, affirming, and nonjudgmental space, people can gain the courage to remember their own inherent worth, reclaim their inner wisdom and empower themselves to make changes. In my work, I often discuss the systems in which we are all operating in, how they impact us and how we might impact them. I am also passionate about psychedelic assisted therapy and view these medicines as sacred tools that can help us gain new insights into ourselves, the world around us, and help generate a future where we are all free.

*Kate accepts BCBS and Select Health and PEHP. Not currently accepting new psychotherapy clients but can accept business coaching clients.

Carina Nation, ACHMC (she/her)

Carina Nation, ACHMC (she/her)

I am Park City native who graduated from Liberty University with my Master’s Degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling.

I have experience working with Active-Duty Military and their families from when I worked at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. While working with our service members, I gained an understanding of the importance of incorporating the mind/body connection into therapy. I also have experience working with adolescents, given I worked at a Montessori school in Park City before transitioning into working as a therapist full-time. While working with this population, I learned the importance of establishing a foundational emotional awareness from childhood. I have many ties to the LGBTQAI+ population in Utah and I’m passionate about holding a safe place for those individuals to learn and grow. I am fluent in Cued Speech and can communicate with the Deaf population, I wear a Cochlear Implant and have a passion for bridging the gap between the Deaf and hearing population when it comes to therapy.

I completed my training through the Clinical Yoga Institute, which encourages mindfulness practices in therapy sessions by bringing Yogic breathing techniques that clients can use to self-regulate outside of their sessions. I am excited to continue my training with Ketamine-Assisted Therapy and hope to expand my research on ways to assist individuals with PTSD and trauma. I have specialized training in A.R.T. (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) and I’m pursuing training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy.

*Carina accepts BCBS, Select Health and PEHP. Currently accepting new clients with immediate availability at the SLC office and telehealth!

Joni Barlow, ACMHC (she/her)

Joni Barlow, ACMHC (she/her)

Joni is an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor who earned her Master’s of Education Psychology at The University of Utah. She believes that everyone has untapped potential and personal power. She views therapy as an avenue for developing a new way of being, one that leaves her clients deeply fulfilled by their day-to-day life. She does this by approaching healing from the inside out, focusing on what is within our control, and developing effective skills for a given context.

As a fierce social justice advocate, Joni firmly believes that therapy is a valuable resource for everyone no matter their identity (visible or invisible) along intersecting dimensions such as age, race, religion, ethnicity, ability, gender, and sexual orientation. Her stance is that we are more similar than we are different and with our existence, we each add a unique and invaluable thread to the tapestry of life. Joni strives for harmony in all things: doing and being, masculine and feminine, autonomy and interdependence, mind and body, the individual and the system. She takes a holistic therapeutic approach, drawing from training in yoga, Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (or Affect Phobia), Brainspotting and mindfulness-based interventions.

Joni enjoys working with teens and adults who are seeking relief, peace, and personal zest. She has a particular clinical interest in issues related to identity, relationships, internalized oppression, and spirituality. She also has experience with anxiety, depression, divorce, narcissism, shame, faith transition, and trauma. Because therapy is such a vulnerable experience, she values the sanctity of the therapeutic relationship and encourages all clients to trust their inner wisdom in seeking their ideal fit.

Above all, Joni aims to help her clients find internal clarity, clearing the space to enthusiastically engage in a life of their design. Her approach is one that leaves clients feeling seen, accepted, inspired, and empowered.

*Joni is credentialed with Select Health, BCBS and PEHP. Currently accepting new clients virtually or at the St. George office!

Ashley Graef MSW Intern (she/her)

Hello! I’m currently a Masters of Social Work student pursuing my degree at the University of Utah. I have been working in the fields of mental health and addiction over the last seven years, primarily as a licensed and practicing substance use disorder counselor in the state of Utah.
My  approach to therapy is rooted from an interpersonal and relational frame of reference, informed by a background in psychodynamic theory, intersectionality, attachment, systems, parts work, and mindfulness based coping skills and interventions. I love to discuss concepts such as spiritual approaches to living, radical acceptance, self-empowerment, the importance of connectedness, navigating transitional phases in life, and shifts in identity.  I have extensive experience working with individuals in recovery, whether that be from substances, mal-adaptive coping behaviors, relationships, or trauma.
I strive to facilitate personal growth and self actualization in my work with clients. I enjoy working alongside my clients to guide and support them in bringing insight and clarity to their lives so they feel empowered to find their own path towards self-acceptance and joy.  I believe we all have expertise invaluable to the process of cultivating compassion, curiosity, and meaning in our lives. I feel honored to work with those who are seeking a life of depth, authenticity, and desire to find true healing from within.

Lindsey Hurley ACMHC (she/her)

Lindsey Hurley ACMHC (she/her)

I am a pilot turned therapist. I received my Bachelor of Science in Aviation Science from Baylor University. After many years of flying, I felt a lack of fulfillment. After self-exploration, I recognized counseling would feed my soul what I was missing. I pursued and graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University Online. I create an individualized approach for all clients. I grasp what gaps my clients may have in their lives and identify their needs. I listen well and will empower you to take control of your life by supplying you with tools and coping skills to reframe negative patterns. I offer an inclusive, safe space with in-person or virtual appointments to fit your life. My passion is helping people regain control of their lives and find enjoyment again. It might mean working through past traumas, learning to set boundaries, working through life transitions, or addressing negative patterns of behavior keeping you stuck. Contact me today for a free consultation and we’ll get started on your journey together.
Everyone experiences trauma in one way or another. The way we hold onto our traumas can vary. Those traumas don’t just impact us mentally, they can be stored physically within our bodies. I believe that to heal the whole person, it’s critical to work through those traumas mentally and somatically. I aim to address the root of the problem and take an integrative approach to best treat the whole person and not a collection of symptoms. I understand that every individual is the expert in their life and that nobody will understand their experiences more than themselves.
Lindsey accepts private-pay, SelectHealth, BCBS and PEHP. Virtual only at this time.
